OUTREACH / EDUCATION

Through youth training and programs in schools and community outreach, the Lamplighters aspire to develop young talent to explore the comic appeal and deep musical rewards of this repertoire.

For the past 20 years the Lamplighters Education programs have been led by Director of Education, Ellen Kerrigan. Ellen developed and built strong relationships with teachers, students, teaching artists, and G & S Scenes participants all over the Bay Area. Many of these students have gone on to careers in music, thanks to the origins of their training with Ellen and her husband, Baker Peeples. Ellen has announced her decision to retire as Director of Education. We thank her and Baker for their years of service and dedication to the education of youth in the joys of Gilbert and Sullivan. We will sorely miss her knowledge, organizational skills, and artistry in this area.

Lamplighters has launched a new Education Committee and is currently re-imagining our education and outreach programs. While we transitioned some programs to online in 2020 and 2021, new in-person programs are planned to begin again in 2022-23.
